Founder’s Message.

Since I was four years old, I have been constantly exposed to music. As a teenage music producer, I understand what makes music production difficult and intimidating to novice musicians. I have found that a primary hindrance in producing music is in educational resources. Because the subject is often not taught in schools, many—including myself—turn to the internet to teach ourselves, which often sacrifices a sense of consistent guidance in the field.

Finding consistent guidance is one of the largest difficulties aspiring musicians’ face. Although music production has become substantially more accessible to the public, the activity still intimidates many. Especially in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, there is a great population of youth that aspire to become music producers, but that population still struggles to fully grasp music production concepts because of factors like time and cost which inhibit pursuit of a professional music education. The issue lies not in motivating youth to make music, but rather in simply helping youth make that music.

This is why I founded OnBeat. Music production is an incredibly rewarding activity that people deserve to engage in the best way they can. By sharing our knowledge of music production with others, we promote the art form in a way that makes it more accessible to a wider group of people.

Rishi Jeyamurthy (founder), alias rishijey, is an incoming freshman at Stanford University. He is also an independent artist, music producer, YouTuber, and software developer.
